Château-d'Oex and the Pays-d'Enhaut
Château-d'Oex is the main village of the Pays-d'Enhaut, a quiet valley in the east of the canton of Vaud. It is best known for its international hot-air balloon festival, held every January, when the sky above the valley fills with colourful balloons. The rest of the year, visitors come for family skiing, walking and a calmer pace than the larger resorts.
Reaching the village from Geneva by public transport means changing trains with all your luggage. Planning around the balloon festival
Festival week is the busiest time of year in the village, and many visitors fly into Geneva for it. If you are coming then, book your transfer early and give us the exact address of your accommodation. Winter conditions in January can lengthen the journey, so we always give approximate times.
- Send your flight number: we follow your flight and adjust to your real arrival time.
- Mention any camera equipment, prams or extra bags so we bring the right vehicle.

The journey and the vehicles

The airport run is over 100 km, so we agree the price on request and send a quick quote. The price is announced before departure, and a return trip is the outbound distance counted twice.
If you arrive by train instead, our base in Aigle is on the Simplon line. From Aigle to Château-d'Oex, over the Col des Mosses, the fare is CHF 232 in the E-Class or CHF 293 in the V-Class. These prices are indicative and confirmed at booking.
